🎉 NIBA U25 Junior Singles – Wrap Up & Highlights 🎉

What an incredible day of junior bowls! We were extremely fortunate with the weather even with one lightning delay, we still managed to complete the entire event without interruption, giving our players the perfect platform to showcase their skills.

The sectional rounds were incredibly tight, with standings shifting right up until the final bowls of the last game. Every player kept themselves in contention, making this one of the closest and most exciting Junior Singles events in recent years.

🔶 Semi-Finals:

1. Danielle van Staden vs Calsey Hollis. Calsey came out firing and took the first set 9–3. Danielle answered superbly, dominating the second set 8–0. With the match going to a tie-break, Calsey held her nerve to secure her place in the final.

2. Liam Janse van Rensburg vs Kholwani Khanyile. A high-quality, competitive match from start to finish. Both players delivered exceptional bowls, but Liam’s consistency saw him take the win in straight sets: 8–6, 6–3.

This set up a fantastic final between:
Calsey Hollis - recently selected for the Bowls South Africa Junior Masters and Liam Janse van Rensburg - current NIBA Novice Champion.

🥇 The Final
A gripping encounter filled with superb shots and impressive composure from both players. Calsey applied early pressure, but Liam’s steely determination and calm under pressure helped him edge ahead when it counted.

Final score: 7–3, 5–4
➡️ Congratulations to Liam Janse van Rensburg, the 2025 NIBA U25 Junior Singles Champion! 🥇

🥉 3rd/4th Play-Off
Another excellent display of bowls between Kholwani (Kwa) Khanyile and Danielle van Staden, with Kwa taking the win in straight sets: 7–2, 5–3.

2025 NIBA U25 JUNIOR SINGLES TOURNAMENT: Saturday 29th November all day starting at 8.30am at Lynwood Club. We are thrilled at the prospect of welcoming our talented young bowlers to the NIBA U25 Junior Singles 2025! This year’s field is one of the strongest and most exciting we’ve seen, and we can’t wait to watch the action unfold. 🔹 Last year’s Top 4 — Kholwani Khanyile, Garret Reynders, Fanie Bester (Jnr), and Jared Nel have been pre-drawn into their sections as per the Conditions of Play. 🔹 The remaing 8 players will be on an open draw basis taking place at 8.15am. This year we welcome some exciting new and returning talent: Liam Janse van Rensburg – this year’s NIBA Novice Champion who has been playing for less than 9 months making his U25 debut. Calsey Hollis – returning and fresh off her Bowls South Africa Junior Masters selection. Big things expected from her! Caleb Janse van Rensburg – back from the USA; the 3-time BSA U30 Interdistrict Silver Medalist is ready to make his mark again and test his skills against his peers. Emily Nortje – not seen much on the NIBA circuit this year, but definitely a potential wild card. Brandon Nel, Dennis Krebser, Danielle van Staden and Taylor Williams - all aiming to place higher than last year and push for a Top 4 finish. 🔸 Tournament Format Singles set play. The event is played in two sections of six with each player competing against every other player in their section. 4 bowls, 2 sets of 7 ends. If tied at one set each, a 3-end tie-break decides the match (based on ends won and not shots). Section winners will face the second-place finishers from the opposite section in the semi-finals. Semi-final winners will contest Gold & Silver, and the losers will play off for 3rd & 4th. ⭐ A huge thank you to Lynwood Bowling Club - Pmb for hosting this year’s championship and for getting the A green ready. ⭐ An enormous thank you to all our markers who have generously offered their time and expertise. We appreciate you! We’re in for a fantastic day of top-quality junior bowls. Good bowling to all and we can’t wait for the games to begin! If you're not doing anything pop across and watch, you will not be sorry! A sincere thank you to our generous sponsors for supporting junior development and helping make this tournament possible. 🙏 Sponsors: Salt of the Earth Health & Water Grey Matters Marketing & Communications Tara Van Rensburg Wealth Navigator Gerry Van Rensburg Bargain Basket Pmb Pick n Pay, Athlone Circle aQuellé ViV aQuellé
