🏆 NIBA District Fours Finals Day– Sunday 23 February 2026
📍 Kindly hosted by Maritzburg West Bowling Club
What a fantastic day of bowls!
It was an honour and a privilege for Brendan Ainley Maritzburg West team of Laylon Howard, Colin McDougall and Dustin Melanie Hargreaves to compete on home greens. With this being Colin’s final District game at West, there was certainly plenty on the line. The team gelled beautifully throughout the day, supporting one another every step of the way, and ultimately lifted the trophy after defeating a highly accomplished Lynwood Bowling Club - Pmb side of Brad Robinson, Jaco van Wyk, Sean Justin Lightfoot and Ivan Horner.
Congratulations to the runners-up, it was a tremendously entertaining final and a wonderful showcase of top-class bowls.
🌸 Ladies Final
The ladies final saw a thrilling contest between Pmb Collegians Bowls, BeLinda Nobin, Wilma Halvorsen, Karen Vahey and Tracey Shead and Lynwood Club, Jenny Smith, Rosalie Varty, Odette Randelhoff and Sharon Willey.
It was a cracking match, with tight, low-scoring ends and the lead changing hands regularly. In a nail-biting finish, the Collegians team clinched victory by just one shot.
Congratulations to both teams on a superb display of skill, composure and competitive spirit.
👏 Well done also to the other quarter and semi-finalists who produced an outstanding standard of bowls throughout the tournament.
Thank you again to Maritzburg West Bowling Club for their warm hospitality and for hosting a memorable District Fours.

Natal Inland Announces Under 15 Side for Junior Inter-District
Bowls Natal Inland is proud to announce the Under 15 team selected to represent the district at the upcoming Junior Inter-District tournament in Bloemfontein at the end of March.
This milestone is more than just a team announcement — it is a powerful reflection of our President and Executive’s vision to grow the game of bowls from grassroots level upward. Their commitment to youth development is steadily bearing fruit, creating opportunities for young players to compete, develop, and represent Natal Inland with pride.
We congratulate the players on their selection and commend the leadership whose dedication continues to build a strong foundation for the future of bowls in our region.
Karen Vahey and Mark Taylor will manage the team.
The future of Natal Inland bowls is bright 🌟
Natal Inland Open Fours Championship
The prestigious Natal Inland Open Fours was proudly hosted by Maritzburg West Bowling Club, drawing an outstanding field of competitors from across the district.
A remarkable 100 men and 56 women took to the greens, all vying for sectional honours and a coveted place in the playoffs. Although overcast conditions lingered throughout the day, the weather did little to dampen the standard of bowls on display. The greens held beautifully and the competition intensity remained high from the very first end.
In Fours, multiple teams often advance from sections — but this year there were no favours on offer. Every shot mattered. Every end counted. Several matches went right down to the final end, with playoff positions hanging in the balance until the very last bowl was delivered.
The sectional results and playoff charts (attached via the links provided) reflect just how tight and competitive the contest was, with margins often razor thin.
Congratulations to all teams who progressed to the knockout stages, and commendations to every competitor who showcased the depth of talent within Natal Inland bowls.
A superb tournament marked by resilience, skill and sportsmanship.
